Application Range Of CNC Machining

CNC machining does have many advantages that ordinary machine tools do not have. And its scope of application is still expanding, but at present it cannot completely replace ordinary machine tools, that is, it cannot solve all the problems in processing and manufacturing in the most economical way. According to the advantages and disadvantages of CNC machining and a large number of application practices at home and abroad, parts can generally be divided into the following three categories according to the degree of adaptation:


1. The most suitable category: For the following parts, we should first consider whether they can be processed, that is, we should focus on the possibility. Whenever possible, don’t think too much about whether productivity and economy are reasonable. You should use CNC machining as the preferred plan:


Complicated shape, high machining accuracy requirements, parts that cannot be processed by general-purpose machine tools or can be processed but it is difficult to guarantee product quality;


Complicated curve or curved surface contour parts described by mathematical model;


Shell or box-shaped parts with unopened cavity that are difficult to measure, difficult to control feed, and difficult to control size;


The parts that have to be milled, bored, countersinked, reamed or tapped must be combined in one setup.


2. More suitable type: After analyzing the machinability of this kind of parts, it is necessary to make a comprehensive measurement in terms of improving productivity and economic benefits. Generally, they can be regarded as the main selection objects of CNC machining:


Parts that are highly susceptible to human factors (such as mood swings, physical strength, technical level, etc.) during processing on general-purpose machine tools, and the parts are of high value, and once the quality is out of control, it will cause major economic losses;


Complicated special tooling parts must be manufactured when processing on general-purpose machine tools;


Parts that need to be changed several times before being finalized;


When processing on general-purpose machine tools, install parts that require long-term adjustment;


When machining with general-purpose machine tools, parts that require a lot of physical labor intensity.


3. Unsuitable category: After the following types of parts are processed by CNC, there is generally no obvious improvement in production efficiency and economy, and they may be self-defeating or outweigh the gains. Therefore, such parts should generally not be selected for CNC machining:


Production of large-volume parts (of course, processing for individual processes is not excluded);


Parts that are difficult to clamp or rely entirely on alignment to ensure machining accuracy;


The machining allowance is very unstable, and there is no online detection system on the CNC machine tool that can automatically adjust the coordinate position of the part;


The parts to be processed must be coordinated with specific process equipment.
